Located in Maryland, Earth River SUP (ERS) stands out as one of the few SUP-focused stores in the state and the only one in the DC area. Its showroom is centrally located in downtown Bethesda, near notable landmarks such as the Tastee Diner and the new Marriott HQ. Although ERS operates a physical store in Bethesda, its boards also ship nationwide from this location. Therefore, orders can be placed online or by phone for delivery anywhere in the US.
Earth River SUP (ERS) was established in 2012 as a result of a collaboration between paddle board retailer Pumped Up SUP and Paddlestroke SUP, a paddleboarding instruction program based in Potomac and headed by Greg Miller. The aim was to create a product that could withstand the rigorous demands of a lesson environment on the river while also providing an ideal platform for beginners to learn and advance their paddleboarding skills.
This collaboration led to the formation of a distinctive SUP company dedicated to designing, testing, and crafting high-quality, robust, and aesthetically pleasing inflatable boards. ERS boards are both resilient and versatile, designed to deliver optimal performance without compromising on affordability, making them accessible to the average paddler.
Truth be told, over the last two years, I have been a 'Team Rider' for Earth River SUP and I believe in these boards. I've had the chance to ride various ERS boards and I own an ERS DUAL 10-7 Classic, a board that has supported all my different riding needs, from cruising the lake and bay to learning whitewater on the Potomac River. I've seen how these boards hold up to daily use and abuse from middle schoolers who have taken classes with PaddleStroke SUP, and I can assure you that these boards are solid. I have also used inexpensive Amazon boards, and once you experience the immediate increase in the level of performance, you'll understand the extensive design effort behind an ERS SUP.
Earth River SUP caters to every kind of paddler with three distinct lines: DECK, SKYLAKE, and DUAL. The DECK line, perfect for beginners, youths, and SUP Yoga enthusiasts, offers lightweight, stable boards in various sizes and colors, with the DECK 10-9 as its yoga-friendly standout model. The SKYLAKE line, the brand's core, offers versatile boards with either permanently attached, nearly indestructible fins or interchangeable ones to suit different conditions. The 10-7 model is known for its versatility, the 9-6 for appealing to smaller riders and surfers, and the 10-9 for providing extra stability. Lastly, the DUAL Series, heavier-duty boards made from thicker materials, are the best choice for more demanding uses where extra strength and durability are needed.
