This Highlighting review is our first at SUPClubMD for a local SUP school. Today we highlight Paddlestroke SUP.
If you have ever stopped at the Angler's lower parking lot which is across the street from the Inn near the C&O Canal in Potomac, you have most likely seen a big black van, affectionately called “the Black Pearl.” Near that van you will find a charismatic, young at heart, and stoked guy named Greg sharing his love for Stand Up Paddleboarding. Greg Miller started Paddlestroke SUP in 2013 and specializes in stand up paddle board instruction.
Paddlestroke SUP provides top-quality, enthusiastic, and supportive instruction from the most experienced stand up paddle board staff in the DC region. Paddlestroke SUP believes learning to paddle is as easy as SUP 1, SUP 2, and SUP 3. Your first lesson will be the SUP 1 class in a calm-water environment where you’ll learn the basics—from how to use your equipment properly, to balance and paddling technique. SUP1 is an introduction to learning the basic strokes and maneuvers, SUP2 is intermediate/advanced strokes and maneuvers, and SUP3 is increasing your skills with advanced strokes and maneuvers. You will also learn on-land and on-water safety with local river knowledge. Whiter water and river surfing lessons are also offered. Let’s not forget about the summer camp programs for kids, teambuilding programs, and SUP fitness opportunities.
Paddlestroke SUP exclusively uses boards made from Earth River SUP (ERS) located in Bethesda, MD. Greg has been a representative, designer, and business partner for ERS since they began in 2014. After taking a class from Greg, you will totally understand how his passion for SUP translates into his love for making some of the best inflatable boards available.
