While a majority of what Stio produces is designed for mountain activities like skiing and snowboarding; they have a quality line of summer and paddling gear that works great for Stand Up Paddlers and rafting. I have been using their board shorts and UPF 50+ lightweight tops for paddling for the past few summers. These products are designed with paddlers in mind and are great for staying cool and covered in the summer days. Full disclosure: I have been an affiliate marketer for Stio for a few years and while I was originally excited for the free apparel, I love how functional and classically designed the clothing has been. Hylas Long Sleeve (crew or hoody) -
Hylas Pullover (with or without the hood) is the ultimate top for sun-soaked adventures on the water! It has a full coverage hood and is made of UPF 50+ stretch fabric with quick-drying capabilities. I picked up one of these and it is nothing short of amazing. The shirt is light and airy and even on hot days does not feel like you are in a long sleeve shirt. The hood over a ball cap protected my neck and face from the sun with ease. Additionally, it has thumb holes to keep the sleeves down during long paddling sessions. This summer I will be getting a few more in different colors.
The CFS Board Shorts are full of style and functionality for warm-weather swim trucks that come in men's and women's cuts. They are a classic quick dry board short but are versatile for paddling, swimming, and even going to the pub for a drink after your race. They have ample stretch with UPF 50+ sun protection and are made of 88% recycled materials. They also come in a few different inseam cuts to fit whatever style you are striving for.
I ended up going over the top and purchasing 3 of these in different colors, and they are my go-to shorts for the summer. These board shorts transition from morning coffee to paddling and then to post-paddle drinks with ease. They are flexible and stretchy so they don’t get in your way, and have plenty of pockets to store your valuables. My only issue is that the hook and loop closure systems on the waist keep getting stuck to the drawstring and are fraying the drawstring.
Made from a similar material as the board shorts above, the CFS Anorak and Pants are super fun to sport around. Boosting a variety of fun colors they are perfect for those beach or lake days where the weather is just not perfect if you need a light layer on top or bottom (or both). They are available in men’s and women’s cuts, with plenty of pockets and something to toss in your dry bag just in case the weather changes during your paddle.
I love the board pants because they are lightweight, stretchy, and all-around comfy. Plus I have the green ones and I get a bunch of compliments when I wear them.
Bricher Flip Flops (men’s and women’s) -
These are a classic water flip flop to get you to and from the water edge, these sandals offer a blend of comfort and practicality. The lightweight webbing straps dry quickly.
